Salih Muslim, other PKK killers face prosecution

by İlnur Çevik

Turkish prosecutors are now indicting Salih Muslim, leader of the PKK-affiliated PYD, along with other PKK senior militants, for their involvement in a terrorist act inside Turkey

A court in Ankara has indicted 48 terrorist suspects including PKK leaders Cemil Bayık, Murat Karayılan and Fehman Hüseyin. However, there is one person among these who stands out: Salih Muslim, the head of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD). The list also includes Zübeyir Aydar and Remzi Kartal, the leaders of the PKK in Europe.

For the first time in a Turkish court document we are seeing Syrian Kurdish militant leaders being named along with the terrorist heads of the PKK in a terrorist incident.

According to court documents the 48 are being suspected of masterminding and participating in the bomb attack in the heart of Ankara on Feb. 17, 2016 against buses carrying military personnel and their families. A total of 29 people died and 61 were wounded in the deadly bomb attack. The dead and wounded included civilians who were trying to get home during the rush hour.

The PKK launched a few more attacks in Turkish cities including a suicide bomb attack again in the heart of Ankara and then halted these.

The bombs that killed so many of our citizens reportedly came from northern Syria and most of the bombers were trained in the Syrian city of Kobani just across the Turkish border.

It is no secret that the PYD has been actively supporting the PKK in its terrorist attacks inside Turkey. The PYD has even sent its own militants inside Turkey including sharpshooters which have been caught or killed by our security forces. It is also a fact that the PYD has handed over the arms and ammunition provided to it by the United States and some Western European countries to help the PKK to wage its terrorist war.So it is no surprise that Turkish prosecutors are now indicting Salih Muslim for participating in a terrorist act inside Turkey.

What is sad is that just like members of the PKK the Western European countries are paying lip service to Muslim. The Germans have paraded him at the Bundestag, the British are now hosting him as a treasured guest.

The PKK is on the terrorist list of European Union countries and yet they are being given a free ride most of the time despite warnings from Turkey. The PKK militants parade in the streets of Western capitals and even harass ordinary Turks living there as the local police just look on. So it is no surprise that Muslim who collaborates with the PKK in its secessionist war is hosted warmly in European capitals.

What would the British think, what would the Germans, French and Belgians do if we hosted terrorists who had created bloodbaths in the streets of London, Paris, Berlin and Brussels? How would they react if we took these people to our Parliament and gave them a standing ovation?

Yet, we see that these countries are not run by principles and rules but they are run by hypocrisy.

So we will declare Muslim and his friends in the PKK as terrorists and act accordingly. Who knows maybe some day someone will hunt Muslim down in northern Syria and make him pay for the suffering he has caused for so many innocent people not only in Turkey but in northern Syria.
