Turkey plans to promote its latest products in the defense manufacturing industry at Southeast Asia's leading defense exhibition, "Defense & Security 2017," scheduled to begin today in Bangkok, Thailand.

The Thailand Defense and Security Fair, which runs through Nov. 9, offers vast opportunities to members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in the defense and domestic security supply market, as well as international defense manufacturers in the export market.

Over 400 leading defense companies and security firms from 50 countries are expected to attend the biennial event, which is also poised to welcome decision-makers from 59 countries and host more than 13,000 visitors.

The fair also provides a beneficial platform for Turkish defense manufacturers who aspire to expand their export destinations and increase partnerships. A total of 18 defense companies from Turkey, led by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) and the Defense and Aerospace Industry Exporters Association, will attend the event.

Turkish-made ATAK helicopters, ammunition, rockets and missiles will be among the products exhibited by Turkey at the event.

ASELSAN, BMC, FNSS, Güçlü Makina, Karel, Katmerciler, the Mechanical and Chemical Industry Company, Nero Endüstri, Nurol Makine, Otokar, REPKEN, Roketsan, Samsun Yurt Savunma, Sarsılmaz, SİMSOFT, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Tek Can Grup (AKSA Run Flat) and TİMSAN will also promote their products at the exhibition in Bangkok.

Moreover, Turkish representatives are expected to hold bilateral meetings with delegations from Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.

Turkey's objectives for its 2023 centennial include the establishment of a national defense industry that uses its own domestically-produced resources.
