European Union Minister and Chief Negotiator Volkan Bozkır will be in various European capitals this week to explain and show Ankara's determination to combat terror. Bozkır will also inform EU officials that Turkey's resolve in continuing with the reforms and reconciliation process has not changed due to the fight against terror.
Minister Bozkır will first meet with the EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn in the Austrian capital Vienna. Bozkır's next stop will be Berlin, where he is going to hold a meeting with his German counterpart, Michael Roth. He will also be in touch with other politicians from the German parliament. Expected to visit other capitals in Europe as well, Minister Bozkır will underline Ankara's determined stance when it comes to retaliating against terrorist activities during his meetings with top EU officials.
As Bozkır seeks further collaboration with EU countries, the issue with the PKK terrorists in Europe is still ongoing. More than 600 terrorists have been arrested by various EU countries. Even though Turkey has requested the return of the terrorists, the answer has so far been negative. Germany alone rejected more than 300 requests coming from Ankara for the return of terrorists. The aforementioned terrorists have actively participated in terrorist activities, linked with the PKK and the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C).
