Stating the extraordinary situation undergoing in the city due to the terror attacks that claimed at least 34 lives, Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs advised Turkish nationals to avoid travelling to Brussels.
In a statement released on the ministry's website, Turkish nationals currently in Brussels were reminded of Belgian authorities' warnings to stay indoors, while citizens planning to travel to Brussels were advised not to do so until further notice.
The statement reminded all flights bound to Brussels Zaventem Airport, one of the targets of the attacks, were cancelled and incoming flights were diverted, while train and mass transportation services were stopped and cell phone services could face disruptions.
Citizens in Belgium can receive information from the 1771 emergency hotline, the statement said, adding that Turkey's Antwerp and Brussels embassies only give services with appointment unless there is an emergency.
