Turkey condemned a militant bomb attack that killed a security officer and wounded six others Sunday in Saudi Arabia's Shiite-majority eastern district of Qatif.
A statement released by the foreign ministry of Turkey wished speedy recovery to the wounded and offered condolences to the Saudi people and the government, reiterating Turkey's solidarity with the kingdom in the fight against terror.
The statement also condemned the recent ballistic missile launch by the Houthi militia in Yemen that targeted the holy city of Mecca.
A Saudi official said in a statement, which was released on Sunday evening, that the attack targeted a security patrol in the morning hours in the al-Mosawara district of Qatif.
He said the wounded men are in stable condition in hospital and that an investigation is underway into this "terrorist crime."
Violence between Shiite militants and security forces in the province has increased in recent weeks, with several incidents of militants firing rocket-propelled grenades at police and attacking officers.
Also, Daesh has previously launched attacks on Shiites in Qatif.
