TEHRAN — Turkey's Development Minister Cevdet Yılmaz, heading a delegation consisting of public and private sector representatives, arrived in Tehran Monday to attend the 24th Joint Economic Cooperation Commission meeting.
The Joint Working Council of Iran and Turkey, affiliated with the Union of Turkish Chambers and Stock Exchange, organized the three day visit.The Joint Economic Cooperation Commission was chaired by Yılmaz and Iran's Minister of Communication Mahmoud Vaezi.
At the end of the meeting an agreement was signed by Yılmaz and Vaezi to institute a roadmap for economic and trade cooperation between the two neighboring countries in a new era.
The two ministers held a joint press conference at the end of the meeting. Both sides emphasized the importance of economic cooperation.
"More than 150 million people live in Turkey and Iran combined, and the total gross domestic product of these two countries is $2 trillion," said Yılmaz. "These numbers assign further importance to the cooperation of Turkey and Iran."
