The total revenue obtained from the tolls of 235.1 million vehicles that passed over bridges and highways in Turkey in the first seven months of the year was TL 504.9 million ($172.33 million). Vehicles on highways contributed to TL 376.7 million of this while TL 128.3 million was obtained from vehicles on bridges. According to data derived from the General Directorate of Highways, a total of 37.8 million vehicles passed through bridges and highways in July, generating a revenue of TL 72.8 million. A total of 26.3 million of these vehicles passed through highways and created an income of TL 55.8 million.
In July, a total passage fee of TL 17 million was collected from 11.5 million vehicles which passed through the Bosporus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges, respectively.
Previously, a study by DKV Euro Service on transportation services based on the main European routes revealed that Turkey provides the cheapest highways in Europe on a per-kilometer-basis with a per-kilometer-cost of 0.0225 euros (TL 0.07).
