Turkish contractors to build major facilities in Senegal

On his return from a tour of Latin America, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stopped in Senegal, along with 100 businessmen, and signed new trade deals in addition to those signed in Chile, Peru and Ecuador.

Senegalese President Macky Sall attended a joint press conference, organized after one-on-one and committee meetings that took place at Leopold Sedar Senghor Airport in Dakar during the brief visit by Erdoğan. Sall said that he was pleased with the visit and that current collaboration between the two countries will improve.

Underlining that Turkish businessmen have assumed major projects and investment in Senegal, Sall noted that they were particularly proud of the Diamniadio International Conference Hall - a multipurpose complex, including a stadium for 15,000 people, sports facilities and a 5-star hotel soon to be constructed - constructed by Turkey's SUMMA İnşaat. "I would like to announce that the SUMMA and LİMAK companies will be completing the construction of the new international airport in Senegal, and once completed, will also be involved in its operation, which is another sign of good relations between Senegal and Turkey," said Sall.

Sall stated that the land agreement signed recently between the two countries will help improve relations, as embassy buildings will be constructed on these lands in Ankara and Dakar. "The Turkish government has informed us that they want to enhance their presence and investments in Africa, and Dakar has been chosen as Africa's center," added Sall. Erdoğan was set to return to Turkey late Friday night, after Daily Sabah went to press.
