Arda Ermut, the president of the Prime Ministry Investment Support and Promotion Agency (ISPAT), said the World Investment Summit will be held in Istanbul Friday and stressed the decisive role of the summit in terms of the course related to the direct investments around the world and the strategy followed by the relevant institutions responsible for these investments.
Expecting Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek's attendance in the summit, Ermut said the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) represents over 170 investment agencies around the world, and after taking the presidency of this organization in 2014, they managed to carry its headquarters from Geneva to Istanbul due to its more central location. Noting that the World Investment Congress will be held in Istanbul with the attendance of presidents from over 100 investment agencies as well as the high level executives of World Bank, International Labor Organization (ILO), Islamic Participation Bank and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Ermut stressed that important deals will be signed during the summit that will be decisive in terms of the course related to the direct investments around the world and the strategy followed by the relevant institutions responsible for these investments.
Highlighting that countries will exchange opinions in the said summit, Ermut said the fact that this meeting will be held in Turkey including the decisions gathering the actors of the international investment agencies that will be made in Istanbul will give an important message to the world. Pleased with the date of the summit, which will be held right after the World Energy Congress, Ermut suggested that Istanbul should host more of these meetings in the future. "We need to prepare our infrastructure accordingly," Ermut said, adding, "I think it bears opportunities regarding the tourism hotel investments and other activities. Istanbul is starting to become global hub. World Investment Summit will be one of its biggest indicators."
