As the Nov. 1 parliamentary elections draw nearer, the Republican People's Party (CHP) is working to finalize its preparations. CHP Chairman Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu is working on the candidate list that will be submitted to the Supreme Election Board (YSK) on Sept. 17. The list will be finalized during a session in the party assembly on Sept. 18. The CHP election manifesto is anticipated to be declared on Wednesday, Sept. 30, which will emphasize the concepts of terror and peace. In addition, regarding allegations that the CHP will enter into an alliance with the Patriotic Party (VP) for the elections, CHP Group Deputy Chairman Engin Altay responded: "As the elections draw near, these kinds of allegations become widespread. As far as I know, there isn't any alliance between the CHP and any other political formation."
The CHP is revising its manifesto from the June 7 elections. The revision efforts led by CHP Deputy Chairman Sencer Ayata will include evaluations and suggestions regarding the increasing PKK terrorist activities. Highlighting the concept of equal citizenship, the manifesto will locate Parliament at the core of the resolution. Moreover, on the chapter concerning the Kurdish issue, the manifesto will suggest a four-stage resolution, the stages being "democracy and human rights, legislative action for equal citizenship, formation of a Congruency Committee in Parliament and the establishment of a Common Sense Board and Truth Seeking Commissions."
On the candidate list issue, while most of the existing deputies are expected to be on the list, the party administration is reported to be working on the candidates who were not elected in their constituencies. In addition, the designation of candidates in some cities such as Kahramanmaraş, Adıyaman and Mersin is yet to be finalized.
