Israeli gas should be channeled through Cyprus and Turkey to reduce Europe's reliance on Russian energy, Özkan Yorgancioğlu, prime minister of Northern Cyprus said. Speaking at a business association meeting in Istanbul, Yorgancioğlu said, "We, Turkey, Greece and Israel should take responsibility to smooth the disputes in a way in which everybody will benefit. People will use cheaper natural gas with Israeli gas resources and this will help many countries solve problems among themselves." He added, "This should not be perceived as Israeli gas or southern or northern Cyprus gas. There is a need, and the important points about the issue are the price, producers, consumers, how the need will be met and the risks."
