Ten people were killed and 19 others were injured after a Greek F-16 jet crashed at a military base in Spain Monday, Spanish Ministry of Defense said.
Among the casualties were the pilot, co-pilot, and eight French military personnel. The jet crashed into a parked aircraft during takeoff at the Los Llanos airbase in Albacete, central Spain, where warplanes are participating in a NATO exercise.
The incident happened at 16:40 Greek time (1440 GMT), Greek Air Force officials said, adding the F-16 belonged to the 341st Squadron of the 111th Combat Wing of Nea Aghialos.
Local media reported the pilots had performed a wrong maneuver after take-off.
The jet had been redeployed at the Los Llanos airbase as part of the first training air series for the 2015 Tactical Leadership program, which takes place in Spain from Jan. 19 to Feb. 13.
