Russia has denied recent allegations made by a British deputy who claimed that the country and its President Vladimir Putin had personally interfered with the Brexit referendum.
Moscow hit back at the comments saying the U.K. politicians were being "unprofessional" by making such accusations.
"This indicates a rather primitive, short-sighted and unprofessional approach taken by politicians who prefer all kinds of false reports and horror stories thus trying to substitute the absence of real actions and success in politics," said Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov in a press statement yesterday.
Previously, Labour deputy Ben Bradshaw had seized the opportunity to undermine Britain's referendum to leave the European Union after hearing about the CIA's report on the U.S. election, said, "Not only their interference, now proven, in the American presidential campaign, [but] probably in our referendum last year. We don't have the evidence for that yet. But I think it's highly probable."
Meanwhile, following the statement, Downing Street said there was no evidence of tampering with the Brexit referendum.
The CIA has recently published a report claiming that Russia deliberately interfered with the U.S. election in favor of the President-elect Donald Trump.
Both Putin's and Trump's goodwill intentions to work with each other was made clear since early in the presidential race while the two men made several positive comments about each other. Hillary Clinton's comments were also consistent on their negativity against Russia and President Putin.
Claims that Russia interfered with the election were made numerous times even before Trump's eventual victory on Nov. 8, as Hillary Clinton blamed Russian President Vladimir Putin of being the "grand godfather of this global brand of extreme nationalism," referring to the rise of the ultra-right.
The fact that, all things considered, Hillary Clinton never discussed the possibility of cooperating with Russia in her campaign, Trump had went as far as saying it would be great if the U.S. and Russia could work together to take out Daesh.
Bradshaw went on talking about the mass migration crisis in Europe and blamed it on Putin, saying, "driving the biggest refugee flows into Europe since World War II is a deliberate part of that plan."
