Sabancı University Sakıp Sabancı Museum Summer Workshops (SSM) has begun its programs to provide an instructive and entertaining summer for children. Painting, photography, sports, camping and breathing techniques related activities will be the subjects of the workshops that will run throughout August. Workshops promise a summer filled with art and nature to children between ages of 7 and 11. For children who love to paint or are interested in painting, a school of painting will be opened at SSM.
The school of painting, the first event of the summer school, will teach children to paint using light and shadow by introducing them to the concepts of pattern and color. The children will try to paint landscape and still life, an image depicting inanimate objects, and will open a group exhibition on the last day of the workshop.
The summer workshop also offers drawing and photography. Children will be instructed in drawing and digital photography as well as be introduced to photogram, a technique that uses photographic paper and light. Children will produce art with the "drawing with light" technique that was also one of the techniques used by Picasso. The works will be displayed at an exhibition.
Children will experience an unforgettable workshop in the garden of SSM by walking barefoot in the grass and lying down under magnolias and lime trees. They will develop positive thoughts through the right way of breathing and activate their positive energies. They will also witness the inner flow of creativity and expression. Children will paint and design things that they have never imagined before by following the rhythm of their breathing.
Children who are idle during the winter will regain their ability to move in the SSM's botanical garden-like plant cover, facing the unique Bosporus view. They will learn the basic philosophy of the moves that they can perform at home and school every day through this manner of exercise in an entertaining way.
SSM will host children who want to know about trees, study the relationship between bees and flowers, look closely at seeds and be a nature monitor. During the workshop activities the nightingale in the garden, parrot, the fish in the pool, turtle and the cat that passes by will accompany the children.
