London-based artist Robert Montgomery presents his first solo show in Turkey at Istanbul'74, featuring light installations, watercolor paintings, woodcuts and prints of poems on giant billboards in Los Angeles. Born and studying in Scotland, Montgomery believes that poems deserve an important place in today's contemporary world. As a follower of conceptual art, he has had solo exhibitions in Asian countries and Europe, attracting a wide range of audiences with his strong poetic texts and representations. His works have been introduced in Venice, Paris, Berlin, New York and Geneva. "Istanbul has inspired me since my first visit in 2010. I love the mixture of voices and the mixture of cultures -- the call to prayer at sunset mixing with the sound of Nirvana songs from the cafes of Galata for me sums up the wonderful cultural diversity and spirituality of the city," he said in one of his statements.
