In his solo exhibition titled "Duality," sculpture Serdar Kaynak focuses on duality, doubling, dilemma and binaries. He put together his exhibition as a supplementary element for the binary oppositions in nature as well as the universe. He molds contrast and disagreement with an emotional approach that can create a contradiction. While duality makes its presence perceivable in every aspect of life, contrast and contradiction forms a significant balance in life. "The Tree of Life," which is a subject of the exhibition, stands for the change and transformation of the individual following an imaginary conflict. The sculptures featured at the exhibition can be interpreted as a motion that focuses on facts and their interaction with one another.
Born in Çorum in 1977, Kaynak received his bachelor's degree from the Department of Sculpture at Anadolu University's Faculty of Fine Arts in 2001. He then enrolled in a master's program at Mimar Sinan University in 2014. He has opened six solo exhibitions in Turkey and also participated in many group exhibitions as well as fairs and symposiums. He was the recipient of an achievement award at the 72nd State Painting and Sculpture Competition held by the Culture and Tourism Ministry in 2014, and he was also deemed one of the most successful artists of the year by ÇORUMSİAD. The artist, whose works are featured in public spaces, museums and private collections, continues to produce art in his workshop in Istanbul. Kaynak's latest exhibition "Duality" can be visited until May 30 at Gallery Selvin.
