Pi Artworks London opened its doors to yet another Istanbul-based artist Yeşim Akdeniz, whose new paintings are collated under the title "The Secret Life of My Coffee Table." For this exhibition, she created a series of paintings representing the exteriors of iconic stone buildings partially submerged by clear and calm bodies of water. There are also depictions of stylish furniture and piles of rocks, creating a post-apocalyptic scene. Her painting series are inspired from the artist's readings in philosophy, architectural theory and psychoanalysis. Akdeniz illustrates a future where buildings and designs in various forms remain as the sole survivors of the time. The event is the artist's fourth exhibition in London, following group shows at the Saatchi Gallery, the European Commission and two solo exhibitions at the West London Projects.
