Several years ago, İş Sanat initiated the "Shining Stars" series to Milli Reasürans to support young musicians and help them gain stage experience. Now, violinist Ezgi Sarıkçıoğlu and pianist Başak Merev will be guests of the "Shining Stars" series in January. During the free concert on Jan. 25, Sarıkçıoğlu will perform the musical compositions of Ysaye, Beethoven and Wieniawski while Merev will perform Bach, Scriabin, Beethoven, Chopin and Saygun.
Born in Adana in 1994, Sarıkçıoğlu began her violin education at Çukurova University State Conservatory when she was 10, and took part in children's and youth orchestras. Later in her career, she was invited to the Great Bolgar Music Festival in 2011, which was held in Kazan, Russia, to perform chamber and orchestral music. She won the top awards in both the solo and chamber categories at the Sforzando, an international musical contest in Berlin, the same year.
Born in 1998 in Istanbul, Merev started playing music when she was only 3 years old with ethnomusicologist Tugay Başar. She began receiving a part-time education at Istanbul University State Conservatory when she was 6. In 2009, Merev was transferred to pursue full-time education at Mimar Sinan University for her piano studies. She has taken part in master classes given by Gülsin Onay, Peter Katin, Ilya Itin, İbrahim Yazıcı, Milena Mollova and Alicja Paleta Bugay.
