Co-organized by the Writers Union of Turkey and Haşimi Publications, Turkey's Arabic Book Fair will run between Feb. 12 and Feb. 21 in Istanbul. The fair will welcome 50 publishing houses from 15 Arabic-speaking countries including Syria, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Jordan, Morocco and Kuwait, and display a variety of books on philosophy, culture, politics and literature. It is expected that the fair, which will run for 10 days, will attract more than 50,000 visitors. The fair, which will also serve as a cultural festival, will host conferences, panel sessions and various cultural activities overseen by notable Arab writers, intellectuals and political figures. Moreover, the Arabic Book Fair will contribute Arabic translations of works by well-known Turkish writers such as Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Necip Fazıl Kısakürek, Sezai Karakoç and Nuri Pakdil, and lay the foundations of a cultural partnership between the region and Turkey.
