The 15th !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival continues to take over the city. Today, the film festival will screen the 2016 film "Kill Your Friends." The audience pays a visit to a record company in the late '90s when the British music industry still paid a lot of money for the talent hunt. Steven Stelfox, who is portrayed by the young British actor Nicholas Hoult of "Mad Max: Fury Road" and "X-Men: First Class" fame, is an ambitious man in search of the next big artist. However, Stelfox is more interested in bribery, conspiracy and spontaneous murder plots than good music. Perhaps because he is a real "talent hunter," his main targets are his colleagues and his "friends" who seemingly share the same purpose. Adapted to the screen from the namesake novel by John Niven, "Kill Your Friends" does justice to the black comedy genre by enabling the audience to burst into laughter while making them feel ashamed of doing so.
