Symbols have been considered a language for communication or protective talismans throughout history and across societies and religions. Symbols have varied over time, yet are part of our daily lives. Symbols are a visual language used for artistic expression. In the "Symbols: From Mythology to Modern Art" workshop, participants will try to understand the importance of symbols throughout the centuries, under the guidance of Ayşe Bayvas. Having graduated from Istanbul University's Department of Archeology and Art History, Bayvas worked as a member of the Art History Foundation and was part of restoration work for the Hagia Irene. Bayvas is a consultant for the Environmental Impact Assessment Report Cultural Heritage Division and various science boards within the government. "Symbols: From Mythology to Modern Art" workshop will continue for seven weeks at Meraketiklerin, Istanbul.
