Regarded as one of the bravest and most original musicians of Norway, saxophonist and opera artist Hakon Kornstad launched his professional career with the Kornstad Trio and the Wibutee band. He discovered his talent for opera in 2009 and decided to take lessons from a retired soprano in New York City, taking his career to a whole new level. He founded the Kornstad Ensemble and brought jazz, opera and looping techniques together, creating a new genre of music. After watching his show at London's King's Palace, legendary Guardian music critic John Fordham said, "It could be a circus show orchestrated with a virtuoso but it turned out to be an extraordinary musical success of Kornstad." Kornstad, who was chosen as the "Talent that Deserves to be Recognized More" by the writers of Downbeat Magazine in 2012, has performed with Ketil Bornstad, Anja Garbarek, Live Maria Roggen, Bugge Wesseltoft, Sidsel Endresen, Paal Nilssen-Love, Mats Eilertsen, Knut Reiersrud, Jon Christensen, Eivind Aarset and Pat Metheny.
