Pera Film presents its new program titled "Not in This Life! Metaphysics and Cinema," which will be screened in parallel with Pera Museum's exhibition "Giorgio de Chirico: The Enigma of the World." The film selection explores the relationship between the cinematic and the philosophical, the fundamental nature of being and the world that encompasses it. As a part of the program, Danish director Jonas Alexander Arnby's directorial debut "When Animals Dream" will be screened on May 8 at Pera Museum. The film focuses on the story of Mary who lives in a small fishing village with her paralyzed mother and her father. As she grows up, Marie experiences all the sexism and restrictions of small-town morality and the growing pains of this attractive young girl become physical. The audience witnesses one of the most graceful transformations into a werewolf as Marie embraces her new identity. As the film goes on, the audience begins to see Marie's mother's unspecified illness in a new light, and the measures taken by her protective father, and the nature of violence and aggression in quiet, religious societies.
