Weval, the Dutch duo composed of two friends Harm Coolen and Merijn Scholte, is currently one of the most talked about groups in the electronic music scene. The Amsterdam-based duo, which brought together various genres with electronic music and gained critical acclaim with their album released on the highly prestigious Cologne based Kompakt label, will be at Zorlu PSM on Dec. 10. It would not be correct to simply limit Weval's genre to electronica.
The duo's success lies in their regular use of jazz, hip-hop, krautrock, pop and funk elements in songs and combining these genres in efforts to create a whole new genre of their own. Signing with one of the most prestigious labels in electronic music after releasing their first EP titled "Half Age" in 2013, Weval has succeeded in becoming one of the most intriguing names in the current electronic music scene with their unique sound and style. The name means "waterfall," which also reflects their music. Their ability to melt different types of music in the same pot reminds one of a cascade of water. Weval's debut album, which is full of synth melodies that make your body move along with darker elements, consists of 12 songs. All of these songs contribute to the stunning performance of the duo.
