by Daily Sabah

by Daily Sabah Jun 08, 2017 12:00 am

Organized by Antalya's Muratpaşa Municipality, the 2nd International Kaleiçi Old Town Festival will run until June 9. Hosting Italy as this year's guest of honor, the festival started with a cortege starting from Üç Kapılar reaching to Hıdır Tower on July 6, Antalya's Muratpaşa Municipality. On the opening night, Briganti di Terra D'otranto music group took stage with their performance combining Italy's traditional "grika" melodies with "pizzica" music. On the second day of the festival, traditional Antalya weddings were performed and Balkan Night was organized.

On the third day, opera singers will vocalize Anatolian folk songs. On the last day, artists of State Opera and Ballet in Antalya will offer a night synthesized with Napoliten arias, a capella, folk songs and contemporary music. Every evening throughout the festival Üç Kapılar, which is one of the Gates to the Old Town, will host a program titled "Music & Open Air Midnight Movie." At the open-air cinema set up at Üç Kapılar, movies by Italian cinema and music recitals will be offered to the visitors. Ranking on UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List, Yivli Minare Park will host sufi music recitals and whirling dervishes show ever evening.

When: Until June 9

Where: Kaleiçi, Antalya
