Turkish fish hatchery production increased by 432 percent between 2002 and 2013, making the industry the third largest in Europe, says Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Mehdi Eker
The Minister of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Mehdi Eker said on Saturday that Turkey has risen to third place in Europe in fish hatchery production.
Eker said European consumers on the whole purchase more fish imported from Turkey than any other European country and that one in every three bass and breams sold in fish restaurants in Europe was grown in Turkey.
