Borsa Istanbul (Istanbul Stock Exchange, BIST-100), which passed the decision to enter into strategic partnership with Nasdaq OMX, has now concluded a deal for establishing a strategic alliance with the London Stock Exchange, one of the most established, redeemed stock exchanges in the world with a 300-year history. Speaking at the 141th anniversary ceremony organized for Borsa Istanbul on Monday, the CEO and general manager of Borsa Istanbul, İbrahim Turhan, noted that an agreement for strategic partnership has been concluded with the London Stock Exchange in order to promote BIST-100, and to close the difference between funds trade at Borsa Istanbul and global stock exchanges.
"Now, we have a new strategic partner along with Nasdaq; the London Stock Exchange. We have concluded an agreement with the London Stock Exchange in order to increase liquidity of some of the capital market instruments, and for our investment funds to have the ability to compete in global markets. Hopefully, the agreement will be officially signed in London on Jan. 20 by our prime minister," said Turhan.
