Turkey's state-owned Ziraat Bank announced that it experienced no difficulty in the balance of assets and liabilities with its operations in Greece. The bank is adopting the measures taken in the Greek banking system. Ziraat Bank officials said that they implemented bank closure practices and the daily ATM withdrawal limit of 60 euros together with the other banks in the country. "We perform all the decisions that the Greek banking authorities have taken. Our branches are closed when they should be. Also, the daily ATM withdrawal limit has been imposed. We don't have any problem in the balance of assets and liabilities because we have been prudent since the beginning of the crisis. We have not been affected by this last crisis," officials said.
The bank also does not expect any trouble since the share of operations in Greece is low in the total balance sheet of the bank. Having opened the branches in Komotini and Athens with a ceremony in 2008, Ziraat Bank put the Xanthi and Rhodes branches into service in 2010 and 2011, respectively. The bank started to operate in Greece at a time when the global crisis began and the crisis in Europe deepened. As of the end of 2014, the total assets of Ziraat Bank in Greece were TL 335.50 million ($131.57 million).
