The U.S. dollar dropped below 2.90 against the Turkish lira on Thursday morning in the wake of recent EU-Turkey talks and positive industrial output figures.
The U.S. currency is now trading at the lowest level seen in three months against the Turkish lira.
The dollar closed Wednesday at the rate of 2.88 against the lira, and although it slightly recorded an increase in the morning, it later on in the day fell again.
The European Central Bank's rate decision later on Thursday to decrease its main refinancing rate from 0.05 percent to zero is expected to spur a further increase in the lira.
