Turkey hosted Sweden in Ankara as Fatih Terim's home side ended the match with a 2-1 favorable result. Both Turkey and Sweden had failed to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and they both looked to capitalize on the friendly match to add much needed stability to their squads.

Since their Euro 2008 success the Turkish national team has struggled in fielding a consistent starting eleven due to the retirement of many key figures. Sweden's aging squad in fear of suffering a similar decline looked to introduce new names to their squad.

Turkey took the early lead when Mevüt Erdinç found the back of the net in just the second minute of the game. The player would continue to shine throughout the match, yielding the game's top performance. Sweden was able to equalize as Ola Toivonen found the net in the 54th minute.

Four minutes later Turkey once again took the lead when Olcan Adın would give his team the goal they would need to seal their victory. Sweden's Bosniak star Zlatan Ibrahimovic remained silent throughout the match and remained invisible, perhaps due to his recent recovery from injury.

Turkish fans can now begin to hope some much needed stability has finally come to their national side as Turkey remained strong both upfront and in defense.

World Cup hopefuls Bosnia and Herzegovina were given a tough lesson at the hands of Egypt. Europe's most potent attacking side in the qualifiers failed to contain the likes of Mohammad Salah as the Dragon's front man Edin Dzeko failed to produce a performance that home fans began to expect from him. The 0-2 loss showed just how disorganized the Balkan powerhouse could be on a bad day.

Diego Costa failed to impress in his first match representing top ranked Spain. The nationalized Brazilian striker's debut was saved from shaming at the hands of Italy as a lone goal from Barcelona winger Pedro gave the home side playing at the Vicente Calderon a 1-0 win. Though it may be too early to say for certain, but Diego Costa might not be the elixir to cure Spain's lack of striking options.

Portugal thrashed Cameroon in a 5-1 victory as Cristiano Ronaldo found the net twice to break the nation's alltime scoring record. The fixture ended in a first half draw but Cameroon's defense dissolved in the second half as the Iberian nation found the back of the net four times in just 18 minutes. The result of this friendly proved just how lethal an energized Portuguese side can be.

Belgium conceded a two goal lead as their bout with the Ivory Coast ended in a draw. The efforts of Maroune Fellaini and Radja Nainggolan gave Europe's up-and-coming side what looked to be their game winning lead. But with just 20 minutes left to play, Galatasaray forward Didier Drogba muscled his way into the box past two defenders to pull one back for the Elephants. The first minute of stoppage time saw the African giants send a clear message to Belgium as a poor defensive clearance allowed Max Gradel to blast the goal into the back of the net.

Belgium fans will be disheartened to learn that even though their team may excel offensively, the same cannot be said about their defense.
Argentina faced off against Romania in in what was possibly the most surprising outcome of this round of friendlies. The South American giants will be disappointed to return to their clubs following an inexplicable goalless draw against one of Europe's weaker sides. It is apparent that Leonel Messi is still unable to have the same team-motivating impact that he brings to Barcelona for his country as the Argentines should start evaluating their team tactics.
