President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is set to meet with Turkish Super League team captains and Turkish Football Federation President Yıldırım Demirören on Monday in Istanbul.
According to the presidential sources, the meeting will be focused on the cooperation against football hooliganism and violence and carries a message of solidarity after a gun attack on a bus carrying players from Fenerbahçe Sports Club last week.
On Saturday, the bus belonging to the Istanbul team came under attack as it was traveling on the Rize-Trabzon highway near the Arsin district on the eastern Black Sea coast of Turkey after the game against Çaykur Rizespor in Rize province, which Fenerbahçe won 5-1.
After the incident, the Turkish Football Federation postponed league games for one week, while Fenerbahce announced they would "not play football" until the perpetrators were found.
