Passolig, an electronic ticketing system that was implemented for the first time last season in order to prevent hooliganism and violence, managed to achieve 1.3 million sales ahead of the 2015-16 season. According to a statement released by Passolig, fans are more interested in the new season because of the newly signed star footballers and almost-finished new stadiums. "Although there were 250,000 Passolig cards at the beginning of the previous season, this season the number of people who have Passolig cards has reached 1.3 million. We are expecting a further increase in Passolig card sales once the league kicks off," indicated the statement.
According to the statement, Galatasaray has the most fans with Passolig cards with more than 271,000 people. Fenerbahçe, who signed star footballers Robin van Persie and Luis Nani, became the team who sold the most Passolig cards among the three giants of the Super League. The number of Fenerbahçe fans who purchased Passolig cards increased by 42,000 since July 1 and passed 247,000. Beşiktaş's Passolig card sales have come close to 180,000. Newcomer to the Super League Antalyaspor, who signed former Barcelona star Samuel Eto'o and is building a new stadium, increased its Passolig card sales by 40 percent and has nearly 14,000 fans with Passolig cards. After staunch resistance, Fenerbahçe finally agreed to join the Passolig ticketing system last season.
In the statement, it also said that the average number of fans who came to see the matches at the Konya Metropolitan Municipality Torku Arena shows that people want to see football matches at modern and easy-to-access stadiums. "Torku Konyaspor increased the number of fans who came to the stadium to watch the game. Following the three giants of the Super League, Torku Konyaspor is the fourth team that has the most registered Passolig card holder fans. Before the new season, Torku Konyaspor had more than 76,000 Passolig card holder fans," said the statement.
On the other hand, Bursaspor have also increased the number of the Passolig card owners as fans want to watch the new season in the team's new stadium. Currently, Bursaspor have more than 45,000 Passolig card holders. It is expected that the interest in the Passolig card will increase after the construction of the new stadiums of Beşiktaş, Antalyaspor, Eskişehirspor, Trabzonspor and Akhisar Municipality Spor. Adana Demirspor, which sold the most Passolig cards in the PTT 1st League last season, continues to be the leader in Passolig card sales this year in the season tier.
