Palestinian football players from the Gaza Strip successfully traveled to the West Bank city of Hebron on Wednesday for the Palestine Football Cup final. The Gaza Strip club Ittihad al-Shejaiya is slated to play the final match of the Palestinian Football Cup against West Bank-based football club Ahli al-Khalil today. Last week, Ahli al-Khalil's players entered the Gaza Strip for the first leg of the cup final against Ittihad al-Shejaiya, which ended in a scoreless tie. This marked the first time a football team from the West Bank traveled to the Gaza strip since 2000, when the Second Intifada-a Palestinian popular uprising-erupted against Israel's decades-long occupation.
Gaza's Ittihad al-Shejaiya players visited Al-Aqsa Mosque and later posed for a souvenir photo. The team that win's Friday's game will become champions and will participate in the Asian cup qualifiers. The match will take place in the West Bank's Hussein bin Ali Stadium.
