American-Turkish youngster called up to US national team

American Turkish soccer player Arda Bulut, who plays in the U.S. Development League for San Jose's U-16 team, was called to the U.S. U-18 National team camp in Florida. The camp will end Jan. 23. Out of this camp, U-18's new coach, former Iranian coach Omid Namazi will pick 20 players out of the 36 players for the Argentina tournament. Arda Bulut has been in the U.S. National team pool of players since age 14. If he is chosen amongst the U-18, he will be the first American-Turkish player to play for the USA national team.
Arda Bulut was born in 1999 and is only 16 years old. Arda plays as striker and in the 2013-2014 season, he scored 33 goals with De Anza Force Academy's U-14 team. This season, Arda Bulut scored 14 goals in 15 matches with San Jose's U-16 team. Arda Bulut is one of the top goal scorer in the league. Last year's college soccer champions Stanford University offered a scholarship to Arda, while he was just 15. Arda's father and mother are both from Ankara ,Turkey, and they work as professionals in the San Jose area.
