After they clinched the Super League title with a game to spare on Sunday for the first time since 2009, the Black Eagles have high ambitions for the upcoming summer transfer window, with the club lining up deals for three star players from Germany, Italy and France. Beşiktaş are preparing to make moves for Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben, Milan forward Fernando Torres and Monaco striker Falcao, according to reports in Turkey.
The Istanbul club's board member Erdal Torunoğulları reportedly met with Robben's father in Amsterdam in order to negotiate a move away from the Bundesliga champions this summer. Meanwhile, Beşiktaş were the most consistent team under Şenol Güneş but face a challenge to attract more international stars, or even hold on to the league's top scorer Mario Gomez who has the right to return to Fiorentina. Gomez, who is the Turkish league top scorer with 26 goals in 33 appearances, declined to be drawn on his future but indicated that he could yet stay.
"I am here now and I know very well what the conditions are at Beşiktaş. We have the Champions League in front of us. I feel good things." Güneş said it was in the interests of the 30-year-old to stay put in Turkey. "If Mario stays I think it is good for his career. Mario helped us but we also helped Mario. He won't lose anything by staying, by going he could lose." Meanwhile Beşiktaş will be hosted by Torku Konyaspor in the last Spor Toto Super League match of the 2015-2016 season. After the game, the Black Eagles will be expected to raise the championship cup in Istanbul.
