Fenerbahçe's famous right-back Gregory Van der Wiel placed a formal complaint to the Istanbul Police Department on Monday over being defrauded of 4.5 million dollars.
The midfielder said that he agreed to do business with someone, who offered him partnership and demanded money in instalments beforehand.
The fraud also pledged to bring famous boxer Floyd Mayweather and singer Justin Bieber for stage performances. "After I asked him where my money went, he threatened me and warned me to be careful," Van der Wiel said.
Police have now commenced inquiries into the incident.
