The first Turkey-Australia Mental Health Conference will be held on April 13 in the Istanbul Bağlarbaşı Congress and Culture Center with the participation of many notable attendees from Hasan Kalyoncu University, the Health Ministry, the University of Melbourne, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the Culture and Society Family Foundation.

Among the distinguished participants are World Psychiatric Association President Professor Helen Herrman, Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists Professor Malcolm Hopwood, Canadain McGill University Chair Professor in the Department of Child Psychiatry Professor Jaswant Guzder, trauma specialist at the University of Melbourne clinical psychologist Dr. Radhika Santhanam Martin and trauma specialist social services expert Poh Lin Lee.

In an interview with A Haber, Mehmet Dinç, a lecturer in Hasan Kalyoncu University's Department of Psychology, described the aim of the conference: "The main theme of the conference is trauma on account of the centennial of the Gallipoli Campaign. That is to say, the theme will be about traumas in the global age. In this sense, we will address both problems stemming from regional causes and challenges of daily life to negotiate how we can cope with such issues."

After taking place in Istanbul, the conference will also be held in the province of Gaziantep to share similar experiences about traumas on an international level.
