Number of drug addicts seeking treatment rises in Turkey

The number of drug addicts seeking treatment has risen significantly from 2009 to 2014, a report published by Turkey's health ministry has revealed.
According to Turkey's 2014 Narcotics Report, published by the Health Services General Directorate, while in 2009 108,687 people sought treatment, this number was nearly doubled in 2014 with 276,307 drug users seeking treatment, the report said.
The report also revealed that the most of those seeking treatment are in the 20-29 age group. The ratio of patients in this group to the total patients is nearly 57 percent.
The report also states that the city with most addiction cases come from Istanbul, with 32,96 percent of cases to the total number, followed by Adana province, with 12 percent of the cases.
