Knocking the door of dietitians at hospitals may become a thing of the past in the near future as Turkish women working to lose weight refer to online diet platforms as they are much easier and time-saving.
Either through the phone or mainly online, dietitians are in continuous contact with their patients and receive their requests as much as possible. Patients are first required to complete an online diet program form to receive details about their blood levels and health condition. Dietitian Mesuda Evirgen said the online diet program helps them to cater custom-made diet programs for patients. Each patient receives a diet diary specifying what they should consume daily. "We ask our patients daily to enter what they eat with their amount online. They also enter how much they exercise every day. At the end of each month, we receive them and check how much weight they have lost," Evirgen said.
The system allows dietitians to reach more patients around Turkey and even abroad.
Online health programs are becoming increasingly more common. A study by Mobile Health News shows that 40 million people around the world use online health and lifestyle programs. Becoming more common after 2010, online diet and health applications help users access information or check their health conditions more easily than in the past.
