Five individuals linked to the Gülen Movement wiretapped encrypted telephones of President Erdoğan, force commanders, Advisor of National Intelligence Organization Fidan and several other senior state officials by using sources of Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Council according to Turkish daily Yeni Şafak.
Evaluations by cryptology experts, according to Yeni Şafak, confirmed TUBITAK's engagement in the wiretapping by the parallel-state and stated the IMEI numbers were given to Gülenist police officers. Three out of five parallel-state related individuals who previously worked at TUBITAK refused to give any statements regarding the allegations.
Furthermore, the sources also stated that over 200 encrypted telephone conversations of formerly Prime Minister Erdoğan were wiretapped and deciphered.
