Istanbul police have arrested eight suspected members of a people trafficking gang, police said on Wednesday.
Those arrested included two Syrians. The city's anti-smuggling crime unit carried out 14 raids across Istanbul and also seized fake or stolen passports.
Police did not give details on when the raids took place.
Human trafficking has become a growing problem for Turkish authorities as criminal gangs spring up to ferry refugees to Europe. Hundreds of refugees who have fallen victim to people smugglers have drowned during their journey to Europe after their boats capsized in the Aegean and the Mediterranean Sea.
