A 20-year-old man on Saturday made a hoax call to the train station in central Konya province, just minutes before his train was about to take off to the capital Ankara.
Many police teams were dispatched to the area, while the train scheduled to take off at 12:25 p.m. was cancelled. Investigation showed that the call was a hoax, and the person who made the call was 20-year-old Mehmet C. who was in fact waiting for his delayed train to take off with other passengers.
The suspect told police that he was doing his compulsory military service in Ankara and made the hoax to spend more time with his girlfriend who was bidding farewell to him at the station just before the train took off.
The other passengers were directed back to the train, which took off with a 1.5 hour delay, whereas the detained Mehmet C. was taken to the police office for further interrogation along with his girlfriend A.H.
