An Istanbul court sentenced nine defendants to eight years before commuting their sentences to fines for the deaths of 10 workers in 2014 when an elevator at a construction site crashed to the ground from the 32nd floor.
The court convicted them of negligence.
Sixteen other defendants in the case were acquitted.
The nine defendants who were sentenced were employees of the construction company and a separate company responsible for elevator safety at the site in Istanbul's Mecidiyeköy district.
