At least 33 people were arrested in nationwide operations over their links to the Gülenist Terrorist Group (FETÖ) yesterday.
In an investigation launched by the chief prosecutor's office in the central city of Konya, 15 people, all military officers, were arrested. They were among 70 soldiers with outstanding arrest warrants. Forty-two other suspects were arrested on March 29 in the same case. Suspects in the case include both soldiers and "imams," handlers for FETÖ.
FETÖ, blamed for the 2016 coup attempt that killed 249 people, is known for its widespread infiltration in the law enforcement, military and judiciary. In another operation, police arrested 18 suspects in an investigation into FETÖ's infiltration into a technology company in Ankara. Suspects include former executives of Hacettepe Teknokent, a science park or "technocity" at the eponymous university in the Turkish capital.
