Ahmet Topalbekiroğlu, a former police chief in the southern city of Gaziantep, was sentenced to six years in prison for membership in the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) yesterday.
Topalbekiroğlu was arrested after the July 15, 2016 coup attempt by the group.
Apart from FETÖ membership, he is accused of siphoning off police funds by fraud in salary payments. He has denied the charges despite the evidence including his use of ByLock, an encrypted messaging app exclusively used and developed by the terrorist group.
