A road in Istanbul's Üsküdar district on the Asian side of the city collapsed Monday, swallowing up a parked vehicle.
No immediate injuries were reported as a result of the caved in road.
The incident occurred at around 3:00 p.m. local time near the famous tourist hotspot Çamlıca Hill, which is known for its panoramic view of the southern part of Bosphorus Strait and the mouth of Golden Horn.
Police units cordoned off the road in question, closing it to traffic on both sides, while experts began investigating the cause of the collapse.
Media sources stated that the construction of a highway tunnel connecting the Çamlıca and Libadiye neighborhoods was being carried out beneath the collapsed road.
No official statement has been given regarding any damage on the planned tunnel.
