Longstanding mayor of Istanbul's Esenyurt district resigns

Necmi Kadıoğlu, a mayor from Justice and Development (AK) Party for Esenyurt, a district on Istanbul's European side, announced his resignation on Friday.
Kadıoğlu cited health reasons for his resignation.
The 63 year old was first elected in 2004, was re-elected in successive elections.
