Addressing journalists from the northern Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) at Ankara's Çankaya Palace, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu underlined the significance of a healthy two-way communication to overcome misunderstandings and prejudices. Davutoğlu laid emphasis on misleading accusations of Turkey targeting Kurds, saying: "The operations we carry out against the PKK do not target Kurds. Our brothers on the other side of the border are precious to us. Whoever claims that 'Turks fight Kurds' would be telling the most heinous lie. Our doors are open for all our brothers on the other side of border."
Placing great importance on the role journalists play in mediating such two-way communication, Davutoğlu said: "We sometimes face such well-planned campaigns to create public perception that we witness these campaigns turn into conspiracies aimed at setting the people in the Middle East against each other and spoiling relations between states."
Davutoğlu also assured that Turkey will continue to be the frontrunner in providing brotherhood, peace and stability: "I ask you to convey our messages, warm-hearted greetings and mutual future vision to our brothers in the KRG in an attempt to hinder the effects of some misunderstandings seen in international media outlets."
