DisabledTurkish whirling dervishes took stage on their wheelchairs in Frankfurt, Germany.
Established in Eskişehir, the world's first group of "disabled whirling dervishes on wheels" staged a show on Frankfurt's world-renowned Zeil Street.
The show sponsored by the 2013 Eskişehir Turkic Culture Capital Agency saw great interest from the audience and will go on for four days.
Social Responsibility Director Halil İbrahim Sarıkaya expressed their satisfaction with the audience's interest and added that they were happy to represent Turkey in Frankfurt.
The "Whirling Dervishes on Wheels" projects was initiated by Sarıkaya himself in 2009. The Frankfurt show is the Turkey-based group's first international performance.
Sarıkaya said, "Our main objective is to convey Mevlana's message on love and tolerance from the wheelchair. We put together this organization to show that disabled people are capable of doing anything if they want. They have no obstacles to stop them from performing their prayers like healthy people."
