To promote the Instagram account @cityofizmir opened by the Aegean Young Businessmen Association (EGİAD), phenomenon names of Instagram around the world will be hosted in İzmir in the following months. The EGİAD announced in a written statement that the account, which shares photographs and information in both Turkish and English, has reached 34,000 followers in three weeks.
The account was initiated to promote the popular city and increase its local and foreign followers. With the support of the Governorship of İzmir, the İzmir Metropolitan Municipality and the İzmir Chamber of Commerce, 17 Instagram phenoms from Turkey were hosted in three groups. They photographed different parts of the city during a tour and shared their moments through both their personal Instagram account and @cityofizmir.
In October, the EGİAD will welcome international Instagram users whose accounts are followed by between 500,000 and 1 million users. The social account will be a digital guide for tourists like those in New York, London and Hong Kong.
